At the Spring Galaxy Unpacked event on 1st February, we saw Samsung announce the entire Galaxy S23 lineup. They collaborate with Qualcomm for better CPU and CPU clock speeds and an exclusive version of the 8 Gen 2 chipset.
The phones look like iterative upgrades from the last generation. If you own a phone from the S22 series or even the S21 series, most of you won’t see a significant difference when upgrading to the S23 series.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Series: What’s New?
Like the S22 series, the S23 and the S23 Plus share near-identical specifications. Let’s go over the differences between the vanilla model and the Plus.
The S23 has a 6.1″ display, and the S23+ has a 6.6″ screen. The S23+ charges at 45W and has faster Wi-Fi. It also starts at 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
The S23 has a smaller 3900 mAh battery, while the Plus model ships with a 4700 mAh battery.
The base S23 model starts with 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage and has only 25W charging. We can put down the differences to screen and battery size.
Both share a 1080P 120Hz (Dynamic) AMOLED panel with a triple camera setup. The 50MP 1/1.57″ GN5 sensor is the same one on the S22.
They share the same 12MP 13mm 120-degree ultra-wide and a 10MP (70mm) 3X telephoto camera. They ship with Android 13 out of the box, with OneUI 5.1. They’re all IP68-rated too.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 powers the entire S23 lineup, and there are no Exynos models this time around in all regions. These phones use TSMC’s 4nm fabrication which is reliable and efficient.
The S23 Ultra is the top-tier flagship. It shares the same design as the S22 Ultra but has many meaningful internal changes. The Ultra uses the new 1/1.3″ 200MP HP2 sensor. The phone isn’t just about numbers, though.
The sensor has many hardware tricks for better HDR, better image sharpness, faster autofocus, and better video recording at 8K 30FPS, with High Dynamic Range. The Galaxy S23 Ultra offers the ultimate camera for cinematographers and photographers.
The rest of the specs are high-end too. The S23 Ultra has a 1440P 120Hz LTPO AMOLED screen. It’s got the S Pen slot. The other cameras are a 12MP ultra-wide, a 10MP 3X telephoto, and a 10MP 10X optical zoom camera.
All the phones share 1750 Nits of peak brightness under sunlight, which is suitable for the regular and the Plus. However, it’s still behind the iPhone for the Ultra model.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Series Price in the US
You can buy the Galaxy S23 series right now. To simplify things, we’ll mention the prices of the unlocked models first, without any offers.

Samsung no longer sells a 128GB model for the Ultra and also the Plus models. The phone is now more expensive, but this phone has a 200MP primary sensor. Even after binning, photo sizes will be huge.
Samsung’s Expert RAW feature is now in the main camera app, and 200MP RAW files will have a lot of data. The phone can also shoot videos in 8K at 30FPS. Since many things can take up storage, starting at 256GB makes sense.
Besides, Samsung has their new UFS 4 standard of storage. It significantly helps with file transfer speeds. Apps will also open slightly more quickly.
Samsung didn’t want to advertise their new flashy Ultra phone with just 128GB of storage, which UFS 4 probably does not support. And they didn’t want to make a phone named ” Ultra ” with older UFS 3.1 tech.
