Finally, 5G services were launched in India on October 1 at IMC (India Mobile Congress) 2022. After all the excitement and hype, 5G network services have come to India. So, major telecom companies Airtel and Jio are ready to launch their 5G plans soon in India. According to reports, Vi is also planning to launch 5G soon. When will BSNL Launch 5G in India?

Jio, Airtel, and Vi plan to launch their 5G services in India. So, another major telecom company BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited), will also follow the three telecom giants. According to reports, BSNL customers will be able to use 5G services on their network from next year’s Independence Day. Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav made this announcement at IMC 2022 in New Delhi. He said that BSNL will start providing 5G services in India from August 15 2023. BSNL users will have to wait for a little for 5G network services.
Some reports tell that BSNL 5G services will be based on domestically created technology. However, the company believes its 5G services will compete with other primary telecom services like Jio, Airtel, and Vi. BSNL 5G service will try to satisfy users in every category. So, it will be an exciting competition between all telecom companies regarding their 5G services.
What will be the Price of BSNL 5G Plans?
According to the telecom companies, the pricing of 5G plans will be very comparable to current 4G plans in India. They will launch 5G plans at a very affordable price range. BSNL, despite its struggles, is providing great data plans to its customers. BSNL’s current attractive prepaid plan costs Rs 599, which offers unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS/day, and 5GB of daily data. We expect similar plans when BSNL launch 5G officially in India.
Do you need a new SIM card to use BSNL 5G?
BSNL will reportedly introduce commercial 4G and 5G networks in non-standalone (NSA) mode. Once you upgrade to a 4G SIM after a commercial 4G rollout in India, the same 4G SIM can also be used for a 5G network, once available, if we consider the definition of NSA mode. So BSNL 4G users need not upgrade to a 5G SIM card. Currently, BSNL has not revealed anything about a 5G SIM card. If BSNL shares any details, we will let you know.
5G Network Availability in India:
According to reports, 5G services will be available in more than 200 cities in India in a short time. Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed it at IMC 2022. Within the next six months, more than 200 cities can access 5G services in India. Jio is set to launch its 5G plans by Diwali in India. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata are the first cities to access Jio 5G plans.
On the other hand, Airtel is already starting to roll out 5G plans in the country. At first, eight cities will get access, and by March 2024, Airtel 5G services will be available across India. But, as of now, Vi is yet to announce its 5G service launch date. Anyways, we can say that the fastest 5G services will be available all over India in a short time.
