Samsung manufactures some of the best Android tablets available on the market. The Galaxy Tab S8 series was the newest addition to this series, with an extra member, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. Now that it’s been a long time since the release of the Galaxy Tab S8 series, fans are looking forward to the next iteration of the series, the Galaxy Tab S9 series.

Rumors about the Galaxy Tab S9 series have surfaced on the web for a while now. While the launch is still far away, we have some insights into what we can expect from the upcoming flagship tablet series from the Korean company.

Model Numbers

The Galaxy Tab S9 will carry three model numbers (via GalaxyClub) depending on region and variant: SM-X710 (Wi-Fi), SM-X716B (Global), and SM-X718U (US). The Tab S9+ will carry SM-X810 (Wi-Fi), SM-X816B (Global), and SM-X818U ( US). There will also be an ultra version with model numbers SM-X910 (Wi-Fi), SM-X916B (Global), and SM-X918U (US).

Galaxy Tab S Series’s Release History

Looking back, the Galaxy Tab S8 series was launched on February 21, 2022, and the Galaxy Tab S7 series was launched on August 5, 2020. We can observe that Samsung is taking a 1.5-year gap between the release of each flagship Tab S series generation.

Therefore, if Samsung continues to follow this pattern, we can assume that the Galaxy Tab S9 should be announced in August 2023.

It is also worth mentioning that Samsung has already planned to release the series in 2022, but that wasn’t possible due to the global chip shortage and other reasons. This makes August the best time for Samsung to launch the series.

Rumored Specifications

Unfortunately, no official information regarding the Galaxy Tab S9 series specifications. However, we have some rumors about the specifications of the series.

To begin with, the Galaxy Tab S9 series is rumored to come with an IP67 rating for water resistance. This is the first for any Galaxy tablet to get an IP rating, except for the Galaxy Tab Active series.

As always, the Galaxy Tab S9 series will likely be powered by the most powerful Snapdragon chip— the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy will bring significant improvements over the badly reputed Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 on its predecessors. Plus, we can expect better battery life, too, thanks to the more efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy.

We can also expect the Galaxy Tab S9 series to have a brighter display, perhaps better cameras, improved S Pen latency, improved fingerprint scanner, and most interestingly, an improbable design change.

Price Prediction

Nevertheless, based on the pricing of its predecessor and Samsung’s recent pricing trends, we can speculate on the cost of the Galaxy Tab S9 series.

Samsung’s most recent launch, the Galaxy S23 series, was priced similarly to its predecessor series. And if we look at the launch pricing of the Galaxy Tab S8 series, the Galaxy Tab S8 was priced at $700, the Galaxy Tab S8+ at $900, and the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra at $1,100.

Considering how Samsung has kept the price the same as last year for its other products, we can expect the Galaxy Tab S9 series to be priced the same as the S8 series. This implies that the Galaxy Tab S9 could be priced at $699, the Galaxy Tab S9+ at $899, and the highest-end Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra at $1,099.

So that’s all we know about the Galaxy Tab S9 series. What do you think about the upcoming flagship tablets from Samsung? What features do you expect? Let us know in the comments section below.
