Mac Pro 2023: When can we expect it to be released?
The American Tech Giant released its first high-end Mac Pro on December 10, 2019. To recall, it came up with Xeon chips with up to 28 cores, 1.5TB memory, up to 2 Radeon Pro II Duo GPUs out of four total GPUs, lattice design for better thermal control, a future upgradeable option, and a Pro Display XDR.
The first-generation machine was launched at a starting price of $5,999, and it can easily be interpreted that it is not for everyday users. The device/system is designed to provide compelling performance with extensive specifications fulfilling the requirement of every high-end consumer. This was the company’s most powerful Mac, released alongside the Apple Pro Display XDR with a starting price of $4,999.
Considering the Mac Pro was not appealing to the general masses, the tech giant introduced its silicon-based Mac Studio, starting at $1,999, which might be an important factor for some users. Irrespective of the price, the Mac Studio sufficiently offers the required performance for general consumers.
When will Apple launch its next-generation Mac Pro?
- The upcoming next-generation Apple’s Silicon Mac Pro is expected to be released in October 2023. It will likely arrive after the announcement of the company’s M3 series of chipsets.
The tech company confirmed they are working on a next-generation version of the Mac Pro with the same silicon chipsets. To support the claim, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, John Ternus, confirmed they would launch a newer Mac Pro. This is done to clear up the confusion among the fans about the existence of the ‘Mac Pro’ line-up, as after 2019, no more generations of the device appeared to date.
The new Apple Silicon Mac Pro was in the queue to launch somewhere in 2023, but unfortunately, it is not true for at least the first half of 2023. According to Mark Gurman (Bloomberg), the machine will likely not be announced at WWDC 2023, scheduled from June 5 to June 9.
In the recently held MacRumors Show, Mark Gurman said about the launch of the upcoming Mac Pro along with other talks like iPhone 15 Pro, watchOS 10 announcements, etc. He believes and expects the forthcoming machine from the company to launch in 2023, but he does not think it will be announced in June 2023 at the WWDC event.
In the same conversation, Gurman stated that M2-series chipsets will not power the upcoming Mac Pro. The earlier leaks also claimed the Mac Pro arrived with an M2 Ultra chip. Apple’s new Mac Pro will likely equip the third generation of M-series chipsets. This is probably done to avoid a reduction in the company’s sales.
The expert also said the new 15-inch MacBook Air with an M2 chip was expected to launch in 2022. As the tech company updates its MacBooks annually with a different upgrade cycle, the 13-inch model can run on a different upgrade cycle than the 15-inch model, which is expected to arrive soon. The 15-inch and 13-inch variants will likely come with a different upgrade cycle; let’s see how the company plans to operate successfully in the market with both models.
Therefore, considering all the above points, we are getting no signs of the new Mac Pro launching before June 2023. So, if you are waiting for it, you have to stretch a bit more to get hands-on with the upcoming Mac Pro.
