Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus 5G India Release Date Will Likely Reveal Soon: Report
Xiaomi usually launches the Chinese Redmi Note series phones in India as part of the i lineup of phones. The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G in China was launched under the Mi lineup as the Mi 10i in India. Similarly, the Note 11 Pro in China was rebranded as the Xiaomi 11i, which also had a faster-charging variant with a smaller battery.
This time, they’re most probably launching the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus as the Xiaomi 12i. A faster-charging variant is called the Redmi Note 12 Pro Explorer/ Discovery Edition in China, and it might be called the 12i Hypercharge in India. The Indian version might have some differences from the Chinese counterpart that we don’t yet know.
The Note 12 Pro Plus still has extremely fast 120W Wired charging, but the Discovery Edition goes overkill with a whopping 210W charging speed, and the adapter is provided in the box. According to advertisements, it can charge the phone to 100% in just 9 minutes and 66% in 5 minutes.
Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus launched in China in October 2022, so we have a good idea of the specifications. The phone has a flat 6.67″ 120Hz OLED display with 1 Billion Colours (10 Bits), with support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision HDR, making it one of the best displays in the segment. It’s suitable for multimedia and has stereo speakers, of course.
The phone has a maximum brightness of 900 Nits with 500 Nits of typical brightness. It will most probably ship with the MIUI 13 skin based on Android 12 since MIUI 14 has not yet been announced, which is why there are no Xiaomi launches yet with Android 13 out of the box.
The primary camera is a 1/1.4″ 200MP (24mm equivalent) sensor with OIS and a 1.7 Aperture. The remaining two cameras are obligatory and pretty underwhelming, an 8MP Ultra wide-angle camera and a 2MP Macro sensor. It’s rather unfortunate that Xiaomi got rid of the 5MP Tele Macro camera, which was very good. It also has a 16MP front camera.
It has a glass back, an aluminium frame with the IP53 splashproof rating, and the battery size varies depending on which version you get. The 210W version has a 4300 mAh battery, and the 120W version has a much larger 5000 mAh battery. It’s heavily recommended to get the 120W version since it has a larger battery and is significantly cheaper.
The 6nm Mediatek Dimensity 1080 powers this phone, and it is a slight boost from the performance of the Dimensity 920 but is a significant upgrade from the Snapdragon 695.
According to a well-known tipster, Mukul Sharma, on Twitter, the entire Note 12 series is confirmed to launch soon in India, but no specific release date was mentioned. We can expect Note 12 lineup to release around January 2023 since that’s when the Xiaomi 11i launched. This leak also confirms that the Indian variant of the Note 12 Pro Plus will have a 200MP primary sensor.
While the Pro Plus will be the highlight, a normal Note 12 5G and a Note 12 Pro 4G are supposed to launch in India, though no specifications have yet been confirmed. We can assume it will feature the 732G SoC and mostly have a 1080P OLED screen. The price is expected to be around 24,999 INR in India for the 8GB RAM and 128GB variants
