Will Touch ID come back on iPhone 15?

The Touch ID, Apple’s iconic biometric scanner, was introduced in iPhones with 2013’s iPhone 5S. It offers better security and convenience too. An improved or second-generation Touch ID was available with the iPhone 6S in 2015. And in 2016, it made its debut in laptops, namely the MacBook Pro integrated on the right side of the touch bar. But in 2017, Apple discontinued its Touch ID with the launch of the iPhone X, which has been housed in that home button since the iPhone 5S. And since then, it has been unavailable, as we have seen with this year’s iPhone 14 series.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman (legit tech reporter of all Apple-related matters), Apple won’t release a new iPhone with TouchID shortly. (Shared on his newsletter – Power On).

Apple may not re-introduce the Touch ID with its iPhone 15 series

As per Mark Gurman, the forthcoming iPhone 15 will not be equipped with Touch ID. Not only the iPhone 15 series, but he also claimed the Touch ID would not be able to be seen anytime soon with the upcoming Apple flagships. He went on to say that Apple may not feature the technology anytime soon. When the company introduced the biometric sensor on the iPhone 5S, it was so convenient and better at security. So, why is Apple not bringing the Touch ID to its main line-up? Apple had already tested Touch ID on the new iPhones, but they have only decided not to bring it to its premium phones. However, the iPhone SE models are already coming up with the Touch ID, and reportedly, the iPhone SE 2023 will carry forward the legacy too. Also, their MacBook and even the iMac keyboards have the biometric sensor.

Gurman also stated that Apple is unlikely to hold its launch of iPad Pro, Mac, and Apple TV models anticipated in October.

But the rumours around the tech realm state that Apple could bring both the In-Display Touch ID and Face ID to iPhones, but it will take time to reach.

Apple sees Face ID as the future for its top-of-the-line devices and has no plans for Touch ID anytime soon.

We can wait some time and look forward to more information on Touch ID’s conspiracies.
